May 17 was a beautiful Sabbath day. The sun was shining, the air was warm, and the tulips were dancing in the light spring breeze. May 17th was a special day for our family; it was the day the Farley, Name, and Lunt men gathered together, and with their Melchizedek priesthood, gave young Christian his name and a blessing.
I am filled with such joy when a new member of our family is blessed. There is a simplicity of the blessing prayer that invokes the spirit, invites us to remember who we are, and to visualize the great plan that our Father has in store for us. The faith of child is like unto a mustard seed, so small to look at, yet so great in potential.
My young nephew, Christian Noble Farley, was cradled in the arms of his loving father and given a sweet and inspiring blessing, one to remind him of his great heritage, and also to help him remember that he is a child of God and what would be expected of him while he strives to fulfill a mission unique only to him while on his earthly journey. As I looked upon the men in the circle, I was in awe of their magnitude. They were small in number, but great in spirit. How fortunate Christian is to grow and learn from the wisdom of these noble men in his family.
What will our sweet little Christian grow up to be? Although my vision is narrowed through earthly eyes, I know that this little guy will grow to bless the lives of his family and be a great instrument in the hands of the Lord. For this, I am truly grateful. How wondrous the great plan of salvation and how marvelous the grace of our Lord.
