Casanova and the Leaning Tower of Jelly

Xavier is a man who knows what he likes: Pretty girls and individual packets of Smucker's assorted jams and jellies.

(Notice the jelly on his lip and bruised goose egg on his forehead. The bruise was compliments of our square coffee table which met his head in a flurry of hyperactivity and was not imposed by a young lady of unrequited love.)

On the evening of Saturday, February 27, Thaus and I threw caution to the wind and found ourselves drifting up the snowy canyon path to our favorite make-out point, Squaw Peak. Say what? I was just checking to see if you were paying attention. This is a family friendly blog!

It's true we did throw caution to the wind, but the wind only blew us a couple towns northward, to the great East Bay, home of my favorite clothing mecca, JCPenney, and Gram's favorite coffee hut, Village Inn. We didn't glance twice at Penneys, because Xavier gives new meaning to sprint racing in shopping centers, but the well-illuminated Village Inn caught Gram's eye and piqued her taste buds for some greasy hash browns and scrambled eggs.

Xavier loves dining at Village Inn, or any restaurant that has an ample supply of assorted jams and jellies. As soon as we corner him into his appointed section of seating, he immediately scans the table for portable displays and caddies of condiments that he can victimize. He first lunges for the Smuckers jelly packets, dumps them all out, spoons a few for an appetizer, and then stacks the rest into a super high tower of grape, strawberry, and mixed berry pleasures. The leaning tower comes crashing to its demise, and then Xavier begins the process all over again. The only difference this time is that a cute blonde in a corner booth caught his eye and he waved at her and blew her kisses. She seemed intrigued by his advances, and obviously impressed by his meticulous attention to detail and highly-developed skills of dexterity. An artist and a lover...that's my little Casanova!

(X making good use of the packets which crumbled from his tower. Daddy fixed his hair and it reminds me of the character in the Wizard of Oz who greets Dorothy and the gang upon their arrival to the wizard's castle.)

That makes my stomach churn - thinking about eating jam/jelly right from the package... alone... with no bread... or ANYTHING to go with it! Yuck!
(I'm glad you like the JCP!!! It's a fun place to be!)
