A Celebration of Lace and Textiles

Lace and textiles, eh? Interesting combination of traditional and modern anniversary symbols if you ask me. I guess I would be the lace and T would be the textiles. (Men: lumber, nails, and power tools. I can hear Tim Taylor grunting in the background now.)
Throughout all the triumphs, trials, and fashion faux pas of the '90s, my favorite Shorta Rican and I have weathered thirteen years.

We have gone from this...

...to this.

Ahhh, the look of two half-breeds in love...
Somebody get us a stylist! And a personal trainer. Quick!

We also fondly remember Bishop Richard Forbes and his beautiful wife Pauline on this special day. Bishop Forbes married us on his own 39th wedding anniversary to Pauline. He passed away one year later. What an amazing man. And what a sweet reunion it will be when we are all together again. Happy Anniversary, Richard and Pauline. May the Lord bless you and keep you always in His glory.

Me: Xavier, pick out a book for me to read to you before bed.
X: I don't want you to read me a book. I want you to tell me a story about Jesus.

I promptly went to Seagull to purchase some children's stories of the Old and New Testament. Telling stories from memory is too much pressure!

Xavier has matching Match Box monster trucks in two sizes. They both have the Superman insignia on the hood.
Xavier: Mom, the big truck is for Superman and the little truck is for Wonder Woman.
Me: Why does Wonder Woman get the little truck?
Xavier: 'Cause she doesn't know how to drive the big truck, Mom.
Me: We'll see about that.

Xavier: Mom, I broke your pumpkin.

Xavier: Mom, I'm a man. I'm in charge here.

Big Brother

Xavier came home from church very upset that he didn't get to be the leader in a game.
Xavier: I wanted to be the leader.
Me: As much as you want to be the leader, other kids want to be the leader too. We have to take turns being the leader.
Xavier: No! Only me, Daddy, and baby brother get to be the leader. No one else!

Xavier: Cicle (Sic-kull)
Me: You really want to name the baby Cicle?
Xavier: Yeah, Cicle.
I sense a pattern forming here...)

Me: Are you having a baby brother or a baby sister? Xavier: I'm having a cicle.
(Xavier loves motorcycles and calls them "cicles". How disappointed he will be when January rolls around.)
